Do villagers told to wait in place still work?
As it says on the tin, I want to train my people's combat abilities so they stop dying to even something slightly strong but i also need them to work, mostly farmers passively working on my shrooms. will they still do that job if they're told to stand next to a training dummy?

And yes, i already know about the policy that reduces monster threat, just got it so it'll be a while before it can kick in.

I don't see why not ?

But other than having them train, have you been feeding them ? have you given them gears thats better than their starting gear ?

i'm working on it slowly, mostly just figuring out what i can/can't multitask,

I just figured. LOGICALLY, if you told someone to not move form a spot then they TECHNICALLY couldn't do their job which is in a different spot on the same map but i guess i'm probably over thinking it.

Yeah, no problem there.
Farmer's 'job' is literally just add fertility to your land. Not working on your fields.
You can still delegate farming even if you don't have a farmer in your town.

Edit, wait now I'm not sure after saying that out loud. But logically you should still be able to delegate farming without farmers.

Also you dont have to go out of your ways to give them food and equipment. Just put down a container, set it as shared and put in food, armor and weapons in it. If you set the distribution to armor/weapon they might even return whatever they wear to be used by the next person who needs it.

even i think that's not right but i don't know enough to outright deny it XD

Thats a good idea, jotting that one down

so i placed my farmers next to a training dummy but i don't see them attacking it ever, i've seen guests do it sometimes so i can only guess my guys are not. or it it a bit like they're jobs? only happens really slowly so i'm better off adventuring?. (i'm fishing near them so i can keep an eye out)

EDIT::: Can confirm: delegated farming works even without farmers, all mine were just killed about 10 min ago, still not back but my shrooms are in the compost bin

Yes, this works fine.

As long as the citizen board has their Job/Hobby in green text, it means they're "working".
Regardless of where you have them parked.

And as for Delegated Farming, that works even if you don't have any citizens.
I dunno, maybe it's just the magic of the Hearth Stone.

No bro, in my headcanon, when you enable delegated farming you put out request in your town's quest board for adventurers.

I can confirm that this is true. You don't need any residents to activate "delegate farming" .
I run a ghost town that farms mushrooms..just plopped a single chest , a shipping chest and tilled/planted to get things started. Every time I visit it..there's loads of rotting mushrooms waiting for me to turn to bait*

*bait-> fish -> bonito flakes -> wine -> money.

Thats genius !
But how do you level the hearthstone for the delegated farming unlock ? What level was it again ? 3 ?

Delegated Farming unlocks at level 2 Hearth Stone.
It shouldn't take very long, as the Hearth Stone grows slowly on its own for every day that passes.
But you can make it grow faster by shipping a lot of items via the shipping box at that base.
Also, you can activate the Growth Boost policy at the house board, and also recruit NPCs who have Pioneering as their Job.

Noted, Level 2 hearthstone it is. Now I have to confirm, does the amount of tax scale with the level of hearthstone (+ fame) or is it flat ?

I can already imagine building a fishing cabin at the side of a lake with a mushroom patch at the back and a bunch of barrels in the 'basement'. Dahahah.

Monthly taxes are calculated in two parts.
Part 1: 500 x year
Part 2: Fame x 2

So being on Year 3 and having 1,000 fame would be (500 x 3) + (1000 x 2) = 3,500 monthly taxes.

Hearth Stone level has nothing to do with it, so go nuts.

Ahhh, so thats why I suddenly need to pay 3K taxes, I thought it was because the hearthstone levelled up without me noticing.
