This game looks good but what is the rougelike aspect?
I like the look of the game and I love RPGs and building and crafting and stuff but what is the rougelike part? I don'e usually like games that for some reason or another reset progress.. if that's the case..

It's not a roguelike.
Just to be specific. It has dungeon crawling, survival aspects, skills to train and items to identify. But at heart it's just a dungeon crawler with weird grinding/building things. It's cool, elona is a great game too in spite of the pretty gross japanese fetish stuff in it.
However it's not like rogue. Also Rouge is a colour lol.

You can play it with perma death on or without perma death, so it's up to you how you play. If you want it to be a roguelike, it can be, but if you don't want it to be, it won't be. However, if you are new to these types of games, please be aware it's not easy.

Ohh I see what's going on.. the streamer I was watching has "Trying Out An Open World Roguelike JRPG" then I saw in their steamstore description the word roguelike but did not read the rest.. "Successor to the roguelike RPG "Elona"

I'm good now. Thanks.

It's technically more "rogue-like" in its original meaning than what the genre name evolved into; most of its core mechanics and a lot of other elements such as monster types are directly lifted from Rogue (or perhaps more saliently; the OG rogue clone, Nethack which generally expanded the mechanics of Rogue), so this game is way more "like Rogue" than, say, Slay the Spire or Balatro or whatever, it just has an overworld portion and no permadeath.

But hey, that's why the genre name has always been controversial
If you notice well, there's the Traditional Roguelike tag. In short, it's a Roguelike that follows the berlim interpretation[groups.google.com] - Turn-based. grid-based, permadeath and procedural generation basically.

Unfortunaly I'm afraid that going more depth on "What is a Roguelike" will only derail this thread's topic, thus resulting on it being locked just like before.

The roguelike part is that it is like Rogue, a grid-based, turn-based, fantasy game taking place in a procedurally generated dungeon that has RPG mechanics based off of early tabletop role playing games such as using dice to determine weapon damage, and having limited use magic items such as scrolls, rods, and potions. This game is closer to the original Rogue than about 95% of the games that call themselves roguelikes.

Thank you! I was also very very confused from the store page.

Nah, don't let those people ruin your enjoyment of the game. It's singleplayer, so you don't even have to interact with those guys. Here, have a non-clown award, if it makes you feel better.
