In Elin, when you select "Let's Talk" the game determines whether the conversation is successful or not based on your abilities, the other character's abilities, and the current friendship level. If successful, the friendship level increases; if it fails, it decreases.
From what I understand, your charisma should be higher than the NPC's attribute. Someone says it's your charisma versus the highest NPC attribute? And that is somehow connected to the freindship value? I haven't seen an actual formula, but there definitely is a random factor present as well.
