Elona+ is the most comprehensive and even still being updated i believe(?) but there are also other packs wth like more focus on farming or crafting or like different graphics nd stuff so try thm all out to find a fave

Highly suggest also joining the Elona Discord as it can answer a lot of your questions about base Elona+ as well as access to mods should you decide to spice up the game.

The page with a bunch of forks. If you have played rogues before, then try vanilla first just to see what it was like. It is really rough and anti-grindy. I don't remember if it has an ending in the story super dungeon.

Elona+ is the ongoing expansion people know the game as.

People generally do Elona+CGX since it is the variant that takes player suggestions for QOL stuff and has more features, like story cutscenes that aren't in Elona+. At least when I last played it years ago.

Then there is Omake variants which changes much of Elona+ and is its own thing. It is like playing with Disgaea numbers of everything.

Whatever you pick, there is also an auto-loot mod that automates hoovering items without stopping to grab each one up. You can set it to pick up whatever and destroy cursed stuff if you want. Amazing respect of your time.

Here's the link for the original Elona[ylvania.style.coocan.jp]. Unfortunaly, the game stopped getting updates in 2009.
So, some fans created the Elona+[wanwanplus.blog.fc2.com] mod, which development still active and it adds a lot more content to the game.
However, most players will recommend the Elona+ CGX[github.com], which fixes most problem on both games, such as some parts that haven't been translated. If I'm not mistaken, you've to download Elona+ first, and replace the files with the ones from Elona+ CGX.

Just be aware that Elona+ is expanded upon with a bunch of player mods and many of the more scuffed and mistranslated additions skewed some people's expectations for this game.
