In my opinion you do need time to develpo your charackter in this game.
How ever, there are ways to speed things up. Like play as a farmer first in order to get a good stat boost from food.
Crafting decent gear seems to take time, but I did not try much so far.
Investing in shops in order to get better items may help. It did at least in Elona.
Magic was also pretty strong in Elona, at least the branch I played. not sure about the original anymore.

Your attributes will increase overtime if you fed yourself with decent food and slept on nice bed. The easy sleeper and Dream waker trait are very helpful. Even you are not planed to be magic caster, certain utility spells are really helpful

As for training, dont train over 200 potential, for the price will be doubled. If you go melee you will also need tactic skill and evasion skill (also eye of mind from fighter guild, at port kapul, North west of your camp)

It will take hours for your character to become stronger, you will also pick up experience from combat, for certain monsters are not ok to mess up with. It is recommended to NOT take oath as a new player, for death comes too quick.

You will need other utility skills, weightlifting, mining, lumberjack, crafting, and most important of all, cooking, food is a direct investment in your attributes.

whatever you do will make you stronger later, so feel free to grind away your worries

Is there a list where to find which trainer? Especially at beginning I do not want to travel over the map to find someone be chance, just to miss paying my tax.

There is a trainer list on wiki page, cooking at Olvina, directly south of your camp. The trait easy sleep will make you restore more stamina every night, combine with nice bed you will have your stamina fully filled.

Better beds could be brought from furniture shop (expensive), or craft (high lv craft skill required, also need recipe). However, you can sleep on NPC's bed.

There is Prince bed at Williow (south east of your camp) and a King's bed at Olvina (north east of Williow)

you also need the tactics skill if you dont have it yet and train it along with everything else. it takes a long time until you are strong.
but in general as the guy above said, everything you do will help you get strong so just play the game
