How to tame?

I've got plenty of random animals at my base and I have feed in my boxes (I've even gifted it to the animals) but they aren't *my* animals and I don't know how to tame them/make them my livestock. I also just found an altar to Lulwy of Wind who if I devote myself to her gives me +1 Taming, but I still don't know how to actually tame something. Any help?

the taming skill actually only covers taking care of them as far as i recall, to actually "tame" anything you gotta buy those monster balls, beat them down to like 5-10% hp and then throw such a ball at them (ball has to be of a high enough level to do so tho)

general store keepers might have a few of them from time to time, but they're quite rare going by my experience so far and they're hella expensive, like anywhere between 3-8k each

And here I thought chickens would be a good early game investment

for that i'd suggest checking out pet stores and buying them there, if they got any they should be around 500 or so each, the monster catching is imo more aimed at capturing rare ones that would otherwise be far more expensive at the stores.
