How to increase skills?

bonfire cooking needs 1 cooking i have 0 hou do i increase it to 1 if i cant even start cooking with 0? same with workbench, do i have to keep crafing grass fences to increase crafting from 1 to 2 to make a bed?

You don't have to level up crafting to make more complicated items. Being underleveled just means you'll use more stamina.

As for learning new skills, you get platinum coins when you complete board quests. Find a traîner in a city and pay them 5 coins to learn
