shipping chest

How do you complete the shipping chest tutorial quest? I built it using the provided materials, and then I speak with the inspector but there is no dialogue option to complete. Anyone run into this? Or am I doing something wrong?

It says to use the palulu wood he supplied, but I don't see it anywhere

Before crafting, you can change the material of an item by clicking on the material icon and choosing what you want. Choose the palulu wood instead of whatever you gathered, then craft the shipping chest and deploy it on the ground (don't just "drop" it, make sure you actually put it down so that it becomes an interactive object). That should do it.
