Muddled is way too overpowered....
I have so far died to this status effect about 30 times now. Being unable to do anything at all is far too unfair, especially if there are multiple enemies that can spam Dim effects with every attack on their turn. Is there an immunity effect that protects against it? If there is, I haven't found it.

Maybe there is something like "Negates the effects of Dim", since Dim stacks up to Muddled.
But, depending on the source of the attack, maybe there's more ways, like if it's from Sound or Chaos element attacks, finding ways to increase your resistances to those could help.

Too bad Holy Veil or Peace of Mind doesn't seem to do anything for Dim.

And, Dim does say it's mitigated somewhat, the higher your Will attribute is, but it's probably not the most reliable method to rely on.

dim is applied as a status effect from sound attacks so it might be your sound resist. are you talking about in general or from specific mobs? dim doesnt have an attribute that prevents it in general unlike most other status effects, note that you can still be inflicted with status effects as a result of taking too much of its associated magical damage type regardless of whether you have "negates X" as an attribute

Oh, that's true.
Like, I have a thing that "Negates the effect of confusion." which Mind-element magic can inflict.
But Confusion from Mind-element attacks stacks up to Asleep.
If I stare at a wall and blast myself with Mind Bolt, I won't get Confused, but I will still get put to sleep after I blast myself enough.

The enemy I was trying to tackle was a boss Mirage Beta that kept spawning Sound Bits (or I think that was what they were called) in a lvl 40 Nefia. It spawned a swarm of them by the 5th round, around 4 at a time. Couldn't kill them off quick enough. Immediately after one dies, another one spawns instantly in the empty space. Next to impossible to escape since magic is virtually useless after the first Dim, and the corridors are so tight that other spawning enemies kept blocking my way.

I have yet to encounter any items or spells that give sound resistance. It was beyond frustrating.

Yep, those are very dangerous. Since it takes you so long to kill the boss those sound bits can really mess you up, especially if you aren't killing them fast enough. Double your stats and try again

Welp, time for another 20 to 30 hour training and eating montage.

Yeesh, I've used the Summon Bit magics before, but I'm not very high level in them, I didn't know that spell could summon more than one at a time!
Other than having an ally Taunting to hopefully get sound blasted instead of you by the swarm, I'm not sure what to say...

And the only guaranteed sound resistance thing I know about is Mani of Machine's Ring of Void, but that requires you to be worshiping him, since it's part of the faction-based bonus.

If nullifying the status via Sound resistance isn't feasible atm, maybe somehow wiping out the source is the next best thing.
Bits usually aren't very durable, maybe something like a leveled-up Ball-type spell would take them out.
Or, if they aren't actually levitating and only look like it because of their sprite, Earthquake.

Or, throw Flams at them! They can be kind of strong, especially when made from harder stones.

Maybe blinding the bits, or teleporting them away would work, although if they're already aggroed that might be no good. The longest boss fight I had with a giant took me like 35 minutes of teleporting away and letting caldarius get one or two allies back up, and I only pulled that off because I could also summon a herd of animals and undead sisters too. I don't use the extended stats stuff so I don't know what that giant was on but he was just destroying everybody
The way I see it, without sound resistance, the solution has to be a non magical one. Using Flams on the Bits and ranged weapons on the boss might actually work. Nefia is long gone now so Ill try this next time.

Reading the thread i found this :
" double your stats and try again ".
I have no problem with the "try again" option but i can't figure how i can double my stat.

I think "double your stats / dys" is just a term used in the old Elona community that carried over to Elin.
Basically, "If all else fails, come back when you're stronger/higher leveled."

Maybe not literally wait until you've doubled all of your stats to try again.
I mean... maybe.

But, just eat good food, focusing on both Potential boosts and actual increases, and train skills related to the stats you wanna raise.

Especially if you farm your own food to have focused gains in stat potential traits, and have a decent Cooking skill so you are able to work the ingredients into some of those 5-ingredient recipes.

Dim has always been my kryponite back in Elona and I don't believe there's any way to become immune to dim besides starting as the Golem race. Even in Elin, I still don't have an answer to dim besides starting out as a Golem.

We get far less options for resistances in Elin than Elona because you would be able to eat certain corpses and gain permanent resistances in Elona.
