But even that, it would take years and years for them to reach journeyman, or decades for master (never tried). A more realistic approach is to give them skill-boosting gears, they would be grandmaster in no time.
For example, a Farmer, with a default Job/Hobby of Farming/Gardening will gain Farming skill EXP every day. A small amount.
For perspective, the amount of EXP gained is enough to go from 1.00 -> 1.08 in a day. (1.00 -> 1.16 if they double-up on a Job/Hobby with the same relevant skill)
It's slow. But, there are ways to increase this.
First is to give that NPC some money and take them somewhere that has a Trainer, and they'll spend that money to increase all their skills potentials.
I think it's ~20,000 Oren for ~40% extra potential. Kind of expensive...
And the potential works like how it does for you receiving training using Platinum Coins, so once they do level up that skill, the potential gets used up a bit and will eventually need more training.
At least, if you've recruited a training NPC at your base they can purchase training without needing to be taken to another city.
Also, gifting someone a skill book for a skill they don't have will teach it to them.
But, gifting them a skill book for a skill they already know, will give them EXP towards that skill. With more EXP given if the book is blessed.
Example: Giving a Farmer a Skill Book for Farming to increase their Farming skill EXP.
Of course, this is kind of RNG since you can't exactly choose which kind of skill book you'll find from dungeons and whatnot.
You could also increase your base's "Studious" skill. This increases the effect of NPC's Job/Hobby bonuses. It costs gold bars to buy the book from a Scholar and gold bars to level up.
Or you could recruit NPCs whose Job/Hobby is Writing/Reading/Diary, since those boost the Studious base skill.
Thank you, honestly this is basically what I needed. Makes sense that it would be slow, getting a trainer that has the proper skills at the base will be annoying if I don't wanna befriend one but that is what it is. Money isn't really an issue after a certain point if you're willing to meta it a bit.
They just have to be a Trainer, at all. An NPC will spend money and magically get potential in all their skills, even if that Trainer doesn't cover that skill.
Oh awesome
