Selling stuff to visitors. Why?
I was wondering if there was any benifit of selling stuff to the visitor in your settlements. The profit seems to be about the same as if you just put the items into the shipping crate, The profit from visitors does not give you any goldbarsor hearthstone exp, so why would I ever put my wine for example onto the settlement market?

because you can improve their relationship and make them live there if you want them to stay

That does not sound very viable because the visitors change all the time. There is not really a way to track the ones you want. Getting new citizens is way easier if you just buy them from the slave market. They are pretty cheap sometimes. And you don't even need 60 points in charisma for that.
The sell prices can be adjusted with the appropriate ordinances like furniture store license, general store license, restaurant license, etc. You need to enact and level these edicts to see better results.

Also, you can sell as much stock as you can move, as opposed to the 40 stacks a day with the shipping chest.

I mean... you could just build another shipping crate if that was the problem. But yeah. I figured making your own market would only be beneficial while using specialized policies, Without them it seems to be like an roleplaying gimmick.

No, you can't. Inventory is shared for shipping crate.

Hearthstone level is capped at 7 and soon or later, you get a gold bar every 5k (maybe even more, I'm at 5k) from the shipping crate. So at endgame, it could be more interesting selling this way and getting more orens.

It's mostly to maximize the Oren profits, at the cost of earning Gold Bars.
Even without the specialized policies the prices are slightly higher than the shipping box.
I'm not sure how worthwhile it is to do so, considering how useful Gold Bars can be in improving settlements, and such, though.
But, it can be automated while you're away from a base.
I don't think you can have the game automatically transfer Booze from brewery barrels into the shipping bin, whereas a shop can restock itself with the sales tag used on sold items placed outside of containers using the Goods Stock Sign.

Though, you could just let the booze stockpile if you built a plethora of barrels.
They'd eventually clog up with the booze until you went back to transfer it into the shipping bin yourself.
I guess it comes down to whether you feel like making trips out to a place to ship the booze off or not.
And, maybe the ability to auto-transfer from container to shipping box will get added someday.

I mean, I'm not having to worry about that automation stuff, considering I haven't gotten more than the two settlements you get handed to you via the story, and neither are Networked together with teleporters yet, either.

for me its all about automatic production and selling
i don't have to manually sell things, give more freedom to travel
goods sold at shop have higher price depend on the goods quality and policy level
it does come with a price, which is no gold bars production
i already come to terms with it, if u have high enough income u can just pay additional tax if u want gold bars
for hearthstone exp... i tend to level it very slowly for all i care
