Best prices for selling?
Is there a guide or something? I've been dropping everything in the starter shipping chest, but I'm not really sure I'm getting the best value there. How does that compare to bringing my goods to another town? I assume there's value in setting up a store? Is that better prices or just tourism?

Selling to a vendor in town is the worst price I believe. Then selling it in the shipping chest will get you more, and will contribute to getting bonus gold bars and upgrading your hearth stone. Using the sales tag is best for Orens, but will not contribute to gold bars / hearth stone. There are also policies to improve sales tag prices of specific categories of items.

Putting things on the ground in your settlement and using the price tag to sell it seems to sell for a little more than the shipping crate, and you can get settlement skills that increase how much you can get for things, but it's also kind of tedious. I have had mixed results putting things in container with a sign for goods storage and they sell automatically, but some stuff sells and some doesn't, it seems random.
I think you get the most money from selling items with the Sales sign(ie in a container) but the drawback is it doesn't contribute to leveling Gold or (I think) your Hearthstone. I've been taking a liking to dump loot I don't want or need from nefia runs or adventuring in general to a wagon I bought from Tinker's Camp and I make passive income from it. My shipping container is mostly just wine and things I can't sell to visitors like Gene.
