Berry +1 Plants Not Growing?
Are Berry +1s bugged somehow? I've been watering these guys for days upon days and no growth. Same for my apple trees. Is it possible my residents are harvesting and eating them before I see them ready to harvest? Suspect because everyone always says how full they are when I get home, but how they're eating is a mystery. I have one worker assigned to farming. Do I need to lock them out of the farm somehow? Do followers at camp actually need to eat?

If you already harvested them once then they aren't going to regrow fruit. Residents never harvest plants.

Residents also do not need to eat and will not eat your raw* food, they occasionally pull food out of thin air to eat as like a flavor/immersion thing. Only active followers regularly "need" to consume real food and will take some out of shared containers.

Ach so... So all plants, berries and trees, come to fruit once. Then you can either destroy the entire thing for seeds, or harvest fruit and then the plant for branches and leaves? IE No sustainable harvesting in this game

When you reap a plant for seeds you can get like 1-3 seeds back, I'm not sure how much farming skill factors into it. On average though it means you reap half your crop for seeds and harvest the other half for fruit, and you can sustain that way. If you use the "delegated farming" policy this is basically done for you automatically, you get about half the harvest and the field is always sustained. The downside of delegated farming being it upgrades seeds more slowly and without the control you have.

"Remnants" of crops that you harvest will also occasionally give an extra seed, so those are beneficial. So you can get away with reaping a little less than half.

They do in fact eat your food if it's in a shared chest I have lost many a stack of painstakingly crafted meals to forgetting to mark them important before hitting quick dump.

That happens when they drink something cursed. They also occasionally pull random alcohol out of thin air, sometimes this can be cursed, the effect of cursed alcohol is it makes you vomit repeatedly which empties your stomach then causes "starvation damage" which can kill you or NPCs.

Edit: I guess it's just raw food they will never touch.

I prefer it this way instead of having a wiki for everything. We are all learning together!

I have not encountered them myself but I believe there are special magical hammers to change the material of an item you hit with it.
