Placing it anywhere causes citizens with the Lumberjack job to start having a chance to produce wood every day.
They do not actually chop down any trees. They just generate logs out of thin air every morning.
Heck, just placing the sign anywhere, even in an empty room with no trees or sunlight is enough to satisfy the conditions for their job.
You can check their rate at the Resident Board.
It's listed as a % chance per day, with possible overflow percentage.
For example, if it says 190% they have a 100% chance to produce 1 log a day, with a 90% chance of producing 2 logs instead.
It's... not going to be very fast if you rely only on Lumberjack citizens, even if you had a town filled with them.
thank you for the info i will prolly stop planting trees for now and just chop in the wild
oh wow and here i spent 200+ hours never bothering with lumberjack sign because i didn't want to setup a tree farm
never would of thought they'd just pull them out of their ass or something lmao
mind you it still sounds like a worthless job. I'd rather whip them to do something more useful still but at least I now know how it functions
