Maybe there will be more distinctions in the future.
Also, I think the lute has multiple songs, as I'm really proficient in the first 'song' due to music quests, but when i get into the second song's territory i start failing as i rarely reach that far due to the time limit. The iron mic got on my nerves very quickly since music was my main source of income. I prefer the lute.
For example, during many stars concert quests - playing just one instrument increases odds of getting killed. I tried "one instrument only" yesterday, playing for crowds which have a lot of formidable npcs / vendors (I look for areas which have many flashes).
"A Big Sister" one-shot me. After getting killed about three times by "A Big Sister", I went back to playing multiple instruments.
This was at Palmia concert quests wherein my fame level was in the 400's and my music level in the 80's.
I'm at about... 8000 orens per day.
I'd rather just play multiple instruments.
