How does the hoard work?

I understand it's for collectibles. But right now I only have gold bars, even though I've been playing for a while. Do I need to do something to make more stuff show up there?

If you press the "generate" button it fills up with a bunch of random stuff. I don't know what it's for. If you click on the dangle on the escape menu you can replace it with something in the hoard, so you can have Lulwy dangling there in all her majesty whenever you go to save/load/quit.

It's quite cool, but is it just a little playground? Or does it actually reflect your progress in some way?

Seems weird to me if there's not more you can do with it.

I don't think it's related to progress, currently. I've gone in there fairly early on a new character and seemed to have all the same stuff as my other character had a year or two in when I found the button, which doesn't look any different to when I click the button 3+ years into a game. My guess is it's a half implemented feature that will be worked on later in EA.
