When you get to vernis, you get access to a mine that refresh every few days or so. You can easily harvest silk inside by collecting cobwebs

Buy maps for like 80 orens in towns with book keepers. Talk to adventurers in any town/settlement about "news" which spawns additional dungeons. Otherwise get two creature capture pods and see if a male and female spider will produce it? :)

What do you need silk for? You can disassemble garbage bags for paper/plastic which can be used to craft the same things silk can. I can't think of anything offhand you would craft much of where silk would be preferred.

I just took like 2000 garbage bags out of my bins for disassembly, basically unlimited threads and "textures."

Silk is great for bandages and early beds. I still use it for bandages

Ah true, I guess you could make a lot of bandages with it, I stopped using bandages ages ago in favor of healing spells so I forgot those would use the healing part of it. There are easier ways to get bed quality if you were trying to "mass produce" those.

So will the Insect(Beetle) or spider make silk if you set them as livestock?

Spiders can be sheared for Spider Silk.
Which is different than normal Silk.
Silk has [Pleasant] Lv. 4 Healing, Bed Comfort
Spider Silk has [Rare] Lv. 4 Price, Copy Fee

You have to be sneaky but there are cotton plants at the merchant guild, near the water fountain. You will get some negative karma but I think it's worth it.

You could try getting a spider pet to sheer it as livestock i never invested in bandages as i just leveled up regeneration and meditation.,

Yes, it's the same trait that silk has. Beware though that cotton starts with lower level healing, but the trait level will increase with your farming skill.
