How do you aquire feat points?

So far i managed to get two feat points, but i found a bat gene witch requires 21 feat points

Feat points come over time, as you gain skills and stats and do things. The blue bar with the feather icon in the bottom right is the XP track for that. The fairy should have told you more, which is readable in your adventure log.

The Genes are kinda end game stuff, and I think are used on followers, not yourself.

You get feat points as you level up, you gain experience from various sources, moving around the world map, leveling up skills, I think just passively standing around you get a trickle of exp. There's a rare book you can find that grants 1 feat point as well.

Genes aren't for you though. The DNA manipulation stuff is for followers, and it's fairly late game. You need 75 gold bars and a power source to start on it.
