Surviving as a Fairy.
Fairy seams like a fun character to play. However 4 HP? I am not too far into the game but I figured out how to "tank" with a wizard. It seams impossible for Fairy without save scumming to extreme. Fairy needs something to ride right away I guess.

So like what are the strategies? Totem pole and charisma for a gang seams like a must. But at that point pixie becomes a turret with 180+ speed?

choose the "executioner" class. it lets you survive on mp if your hp runs out.

I dunno how useful Riding would be for a Fairy, they're usually faster on their own, riding would likely be just a speed reduction.
But you'd definitely want to travel with party members or pets that have the ability to Taunt.
The starter pet Little Girl has it, if you chose that option.

Though I must say, I haven't played a Fairy yet, can you not just increase your END and STR stats to get more HP?
Though, the whole "can't wear any armor that weighs more than 1.0s" would still be a limit to any tankiness you could get easily... maybe.
They're kind of glass cannons. Or just glass, at the beginning.

you can increase your hp but it is a lot of work. I finally reached about 70hp in year 2 but I spent almost the entire first year burdened! and did hp raising skills.

Fairy with mana body from executioner makes them decent (not good) tanks, considering how squishy they are otherwise.

You can just focus on casting stuff still while the class, it just helps prevent you from being one-tapped from everything by quite a bit.

That, and the bonus crit chance when your pitiful HP pool ends up at 0 as well as being immune to neck hunt is pretty great no matter what route you take.

Seams like every fairy needs a hero. Like legend of Zelda. Fairy knew that it could become a bloody smush. So it needed a hero. I am thinking like a wizard fairy here. Mana executioner means DPS goes to 0.

Dying in one hit means your DPS goes to 0, too.

If you are riding another character it doesn't. Their health becomes your health right? And you still get 180 speed

Mounts have a higher chance of being targeted, especially with taunt, until you get AOE'd or the enemy decides to poke you with an arrow spell anyway, and then you're just sad.

And your +75 DV and evasion skills aren't going to make you dodge any magic attack, either. Magic doesn't miss.

Gaining a massive second health bar that, quite literally increases your survivability to damage by 5x as much, with the benefit of improved critical strike rating when your hp bar is low/empty at the cost of slightly lower potential on magic stats and maybe missing a domain or two is a small price to pay, in my opinion.

Also as a bonus, if the fairy decides to go with the god of elements (which they maybe probably should), you can absorb mana as a sort of psuedo heal at the cost of stamina. Healing was changed recently to not be able to heal more than a % of your max HP, which hurts fairies a lot, as before where weak heals could fully restore their health, now they are only restoring less than half due to the heal cap.

Grind that Holy shield spell. You'll need the armor value. Also, try to rise your magic capacity skill bit by bit, hurting youself will help grow both your mana and health. You can worship Elkath for an early boost in magic capacity so you don't instantly die if you overcast a single mana point.

And keep all flying scrolls, rods, spells on hand, it will be invaluable for a fairy as it will allow to reduce heavy materials piece of gear to a weight you're allowed to equip

I’m a pianist fairy, I don’t fight, I just run and teleport myself or dangers away xD I’m using symbiosis but no ride so I can always get the first few moves at 160+ speed to hex everything that could kill me

Best defense is always offense, just keep few silver bell as pets, you can't imagine how 300 speed can make a difference especially with gun and big daddy milk

Maxing ascetic tree is kinda important for fairy to not feel as fragile. Since it adds to base life at max its basically a 50% increase at max in hp compared to base life fairy.

Early game really isn't as bad as it looks just because you can outspeed everything and they can't hit you back. The base evade goes really hard at how much it keeps you alive. Fairies have a hidden perfect evasion stat that guarantees they always have at least 50 evade chance. Though a stray random hit can absolutely squish you randomly.

you also want to insta kill any magic user you see. Magic always hit, largely ignore PV, and while you have good base magic resistances, your HP pool is still tiny.

Oh, and if you get dimmed.... run. you have 1/4 chance of taking a crit, and it bypass any additional check, so your dodge value becomes irrelevant.

Fairy is a challenge class. Like bats, your life ends the moment the RNG lets any enemy get in a lucky hit. Unlike bats, there's only one of you and an infinite amount of them. Pretty much the only way to survive is to have some trick that ensures you never lose your last HP, whether it's being an Executioner (your mana pool has to run out first) or maintaining over half stamina with an OoE character (and immediately Alt+F4 the game if your invulnerability is ever triggered, no matter how long it's been since your last save).
You have like 35% the health of other races but godly speed and dodge. Now, you don't want to use that dodge, as the moment they hit, you will go down like a sack of potatoes till you get some armor on you, but it's actually the one race you can totally go without a mount with, as your speed is almost double the average. Even just plain outrunning enemies is often fairly easy, even while heavily burdened.

First, you'll want a microphone for a throwing weapon. It's great for crabs and magic resistant enemies. Throwing weapons can be above 1s, as can other ranged weapons, as you don't wear them. Next, get nerve arrow and, eventually, teleport. These three things will allow you to deal with most enemies till you run out of mana. If teleport comes into play, trying to use the mic to conserve mana is often wise, as if you HAVE to teleport, it's probably a silly durable enemy who will probably one-shot you till you have like 10x the starting hp.

Zylon or spirit cloth armor is one of the best options available to fairy without extensive investment, though mica is a decent start, as luck is decent to have on stuff, allowing rerolls of any action with back end dice. If you find scale armor below 1s, also a great option.

One of the most important gear items will be a lantern under 1s. Keep an eye out, as you'd probably find it at one of the quarterly festivals. Likewise, good gloves are great. Sheer mermaids at parties and make gloves for decent ones.

Also, keep in mind magic doesn't miss. You are resistant, but 4hp isn't gonna help at first. The first big threat enemy is gonna likely use magic, for this reason.
I played a fairy in the original version of Elin, called Elona. And late game the hp penalty and equipment penalties became crippling. I caution against playing a Fairy long-term for reasons like this.
And this is why I'm a golem, I'm slow but I can take a hit, can't bleed, can't be poisoned, can't be dimmed, and wayyyy more hp.
