Both pets ride and symbiosis will not "die" as free-range pets, id say thats the biggest bonuses
In addition, both hosting and Riding comes with penalties to Accuracy and Cast Chance, for you and your mount, for Riding, and you and your symbiote, for Symbiosis.
And, these penalties stack for you if you're doing both at once.
But, your mount won't get further penalized if you're hosting someone, and your symbiote won't get further penalized if you're Riding.
It's just you who'll have to deal with double penalties.
Improving the skills will mitigate the penalties somewhat.
Probably the biggest help is that during Ride/Symbiosis, you can affect you, your mount, and your symbiote all at once with certain spells, such as Cure Wounds.
And, if your mount/symbiote would lose all their HP, instead of dying and disappearing back to base, they'll fall unconscious and can be revive with simple healing or just over time from meditation or natural regeneration.
