Level of Nefia going beyond what my pet and I can handle

Hi, I had this problem as well with Elona, but it seems the game difficulty is going beyond what I can currently handle.
I can manage a few Nefia lvl 18 and below, but right now, I get Nefias lvl 20, 25, even 30.
I can't do those dungeons without my pets dying (which sets me back 4000) or me dying and losing equipment due to fire or cold... Which wasn't a problem after a certain point. I never had things being destoyed by fire or ice, but now I repeatedly do.

How do I deal with the increased difficulty and how to lower it if its possible?

Nefia difficulty scales with your fame. You can sell your fame to informants in towns for a pittance of orens in order to lower difficulty. I'm considering doing this myself... :(

Sell your fame to decrease the difficulty. Though a quick word of advice, don't sell TOO much - it'll be quite tedious to grind fame back to the difficulty level you wanna farm equipment at (nefias obviously drop worse equipment on lower lvl difficulties)

Taxes were a bit too much at the time (nah, I'm just greedy) so I sold fame from ~2k to ~300. "It's fine, what could go wrong".. Yeeeah, right. All the nefias were like level 5 lol. ♥♥♥♥ equipment and pushover enemies. Lesson learned, went back to grinding fame.

It's not related to lowering the difficulty of dungeons, but be on the lookout for items called Fireproof or Coldproof Blankets.
You can find them for sale in some shops, or craft them via the Loom using the Weaving skill.

Just by having these in your inventory they act as sacrifices for burning/shattering items, and will instead lose "charges" on the blanket while protecting your items.
You can also make your party members and pets hold them too, to protect their stuff.

The chances of getting your stuff burnt/shattered is also reduced the higher your resistance to fire/ice element is, so casting or drinking a potion of Elemental Shield can help, too.
