attributes
so does using the skills associated with the attribute raise it? or just stuffing my face with food? i really wish there was a better way to tell if attributes were going up rather than just waiting and seeing if one goes up

Yes, using skills will give experience toward the attribute they are based on. So chopping trees will increase endurance, etc.

alright thanks because ive been casting magic for so long but i havent really seen it go up yet

Each skill has a potency. The higher it is, the faster you level the skill. Go use platinum coins with traders for skill potency, and eat good food to increase attribute potency.

this is about attributes not the skills

You said you were casting magic for so long, i explained how to improve your skill potency to avoid that, you said you havent seen your base attribute go up, i explained how to increase attribute potency to improve that.

The higher your potency with skills, the faster you level them up, increasing your attributes.

so do the attributes just go up from skill level ups or from using the action? or both
Akameka Nov 20, 2024 @ 6:19am
food give attribute xp, as well as using skills that are linked to a specific attribute (weightlifting & strenght for exemple)
Unlike skills, you can't tell how far you are from leveling up an attribute

Xp is gained whenever you use the skill, not when it level up. You can gain an attribute point despite not gaining a skill point at the same time

Lets use fake numbers. If your casting is 1, and you have a potency of 100. You need to cast a spell 100 times to increase it to casting level 2. Once you level up casting, your magic attribute will 'increase' from 1 magic to 1.10 magic at 100 potency. You just cant see the ".10"

So lets say you use platinum to increase your casting potency to 200, and eat good food to increase your magic potency to 200. That means you'd have to cast 50 spells to level up casting, and your magic would increase to 1.20 once you reach lv2 casting.

alright because ive been levelling casting for a while i was just a bit worried ill give it a few more levels and hope it finally raises up

Well, Akameka gave you your ultimate way to level up attributes. Early levels you'll level up attributes from your skills alone, but later on leveling up your skills gets rather difficult, or a huge time sink. By then, a mix of skills and food will be the main way you level up attributes.

So uhh... learn to cook. Baker food is decent, but leveling cooking lets you cook food that specifically increases the stat you want.

Attributes have potential too, not just skills. Main method of increasing attribute potential is eating foods with potential in stats, drinking wells (but these can also lower potential, as well as cause other myriad of side effects). You can permanently increase the potential of attributes though via feats (though these aren't worth grabbing early game) or eating the corpses of Little Ones.
