How does appraising work?

I bought the skill but i can't find a way to use It.

Appraisal skill helps you identify most books/scrolls. Most useful in saving money.

passively works on items unidentified in your inventory, just keep stuff in backpack, the skill will level up and with higher level will just nearly instantly identify your stuff.

Good to know! So do you just keep the things in the backpack and it'll eventually do it, or does it only have a chance of triggering upon receiving new items? Not having to constantly go to visit the nearest mage would save me some time.

you will still want a mage in your city because appraisal cannot identify miracle or godly items, and can only identify good items once you level it to 20

you will still want to learn appraisal because you'll make a lot more money when you don't have to pay to identify all the books, scrolls, and potions you find

It just needs to sit in ur inventory to work.
