Jokes aside, I don't really care what Reddit thinks, I need to know about the features.
Elin offers a better quality of life (QoL) with features like changing party AI behaviors and an Auto mode for combat, while Elona has a more extensive wiki with a lot of information. The choice between the two depends on whether you prioritize better gameplay mechanics or more resources and lore.
Gameplay mechanics being Elin.
Elona Plus, is more like an entire overhaul and than a modification. Rather than the continuation of the vision of the original author of the game, it is the vision of a new one. It adds addition 'acts' and lore that cannot be considered to be 'canon', even if at least some of it makes sense.
Other thread.

I disagree - for the most part, Elona+ feels like more of the same, and I would say it's the definitive version of Elona today. The added acts build up on the established foundation, but give you more room to explore and more story to follow. The game has a ton of new items, but they follow the spirit of the original while simply providing extra options to players.
The big differences would be some mechanical intricacies, like being able to craft bottled water to turn into holy water at ease, but that's not something that a new player would notice or care about.
Elin is based 30 years or something before Elona.
Elin adds a bunch of stuff, but crafting definitely takes the spotlight. There is a metric ton of workbenches, recipes, householding items, new ways to assign jobs to NPCs and improve your base. It's a massive part of the game. I haven't explored it a lot myself, but yeah, it's big.
But there are also new cities, new traits and items, a lot of mechanical changes (learning magic in your sleep, letting your pet ride you while you yourself ride another pet for a mighty stack of power), a whole new guild (merchants), overhauled casino mini-games, new mechanics around interacting with and recruiting random adventurers, and so on. It's not just graphics.
Yeah that better explains it.
The base building is fun.
The QoL upgrades are excellent.
