puppy cave issue

is there something wrong with the quest the first game I think I got lucky in finding them but for all my other game's I can't find them and just end up dying it also doesn't help that the cave's will change making it confusing

if your poppy died/disappear, just wait a few days he will respawn in the cave. The cave's layout will reset every few days, actually a good hunting ground in the early game, i spent most my early game here, safer and lucrative
