Monster hunt quests bugged?
Hey everyone,
I justs did two monster hunt quests in a row from one of the towns... the ones from the quest board, asking you to kill a certain amount of mobs in a map you get sent to.
The first one worked like a charm. With the second one, I had to kill 10 mobs and killed 9. And then, there was no other mob to be found. I walked all over that little map several times in different patterns. Even chopped down a tree because sometimes, these putits drop down. One did, killed it, didn't count. So after 5 min, I gave up and left the map, with 9/10 killed, failing the quest and losing karma.
It's not a big thing, but since, on my first playthrough, I failed a few quests and went to negative karma, I'd like to avoid that, and it seems like with this, there was no way to prevent failing.
Is this a common thing? Is there anything I missed? Anything to prevent this?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Spammed quite a few of them for easy karma/fame but never had something like that happen at all, on a series of 30-40 quests back to back so far... if you encountered a bug, it seems pretty rare.

What i've seen happen often tho is the last monster is one of those paralyzing eyes that almost can't move and end up staying behind the bulk of the group you have to kill. maybe you might have missed one of those ?

Thanks for the reply. There actually WAS one of those eyes, but I killed that. I went forth and back and didnt see another. BUT you may be right... maybe hidden behind a few blocks of clay or something., I keep forgetting these and that they sleep. Thanks!

I just methodically clear those out of resources when that happens. Need it for the base building anyway.

either Eyes or really slow ennemies such as Snails or hermit crabs. One ennemy might also fall asleep in a corner of the map if it's night time.

That, and invisible ennemies such as pumpkins that might struggle catching with you if you walk around a lot.... or might also fall asleep at night (invisible + not mooving = good luck finding it without a see invisible scroll/rod/potion or spell)

My personal belief is that quests are too short, and the few that have longer timers have such bizarre requirements to fulfil in the early game that it's not worth even considering them.

Like really, this random guy wants a globe? MFer i'm still figuring out how to upgrade my walls from grass...

the only reliable way to get a globe that i have found is stealing from the casino

Haha, yes! The "kill x amount of mobs" is quite doable, but the time sensitive ones got me into trouble as I was bleeding karma quickly and then was considered a criminal. Started over eventually and am being much more careful when choosing quests. :)

as a rule of thumbs, don't choose quests that you can't do immediately or almost immediately, they are usually not worth the trouble

Possibly you missed the floating eye, a very slow monster who often just stays in one spot and does not move while you zip around.

Ignore the "stars" of quests, pay attention to the "level". Most monster hunts at lvl3 are doable early, above that its dangerous.
