How to settup a shop?
so i've been trying to setup a shop in my base, and so far i have been placing an item down and adding a sale tag on it, but when it sells it leaves a "sold" tag that i have to throw away to sell something else, am i doing something wrong? isnt there a way to have stuff automatically refilled? also where does the money go?

dont you need a couple of policies for that?

Loytel tells you that he sells the policy for that but I think your hearthstone needs to be a higher level? He does not sell it in my game.

alot of other vendors sell that policy too, its random though. I recommend only using gold for policies at the start, because you need so many for a useful site.

you need the "open for buisness" book, sometimes a dude in the tinkerer's camp sells it.
there are also specialization books for increased sales from certain types of goods

After further experimenting, i think i get the money when i get rent and tourism money.
And that if i use the sales tag on a "sold" tag it removes it without giving it as the item.

i'm still at a loss for how to have items be replenished automatically
You can try setting up a container and have a "Good Restock Sign" near it. You can craft that sign at the Signboards Workshop. Let me know If this works for you. I have yet to try it but Its my understanding that if you have that close by the selling area and theres an item of that category in the chest, your NPCs in town will replenish where possible.

finally played the game again, and yeah i had multiple types of beer in a box inside my shop area with a goods stock sign and they automatically got used up to be sold

i realised that using a sales tag on a chest full of items marks all the items inside for sale wich saves the trouble of marking items, but i cant see how to keep the chest as a permanent sales chest, it seems once enough items are sold the chest goes back to normal, i would prefer it it would always keep the sales tag honestly.

*edit* found my answer on another thread

The simplest way should be to set a chest 'for sale' with the sales tag, put in something that never sells (burnable garbage should work) and set it's distribution settings to only accept vegetables and fish, and give it high priority. Now when your veggies or fish get made automatically they should be dumped in that chest and sold.

I haven't done that myself, but I do have all my veggies going into my fridge so they don't rot before I can cook them. No reason I couldn't slap a sales tag on it and have them get sold instead.

I tried this with and crate and the white trashbag and it works, they buy all the items and never the chest. A side note, I got a staff (at the blackmsith) in Mystallia that lets me eat rotten food with no penalties.

but where does the money go? is there a pickup spot or goes to the bank or something??

You get the money immediately if you're in the zone, or the next time you enter the zone.

after a while playing and setting up sell chest for all my extra stuff it works pretty well, i use an arrow on the chest, only thing i would really like to see implemented is an item to force npc to stand around a static place, like in towns, like beds but for when they are awake, i want my salesman to hang around a building i made specifically for him. like allow me to assign chairs or cushions to an npc and they will go to it when they are awake.

Doesn't talking to them, selecting "Actually..." and then telling them "I want you to wait here." do that?
Or do they eventually stop waiting there and move around again?
I think you can tell them to wait and then go to the Build Board and literally pick them up and drag them where you want them to be.

When you sales via sales tag you dont get bonus gold bar per 1k/2k sales good. If it chip stuff you loss not much. I lost many gold bar befor start selling stolen things direct in shipping chest with right policy.

that is a workaround now that u mention it, would like it if they went from their home to the shop and back, etc, i guess im asking to much of the game in its current state, it just i made shops with rooms and apartment buildings for the square market merchants since im a sucker for base building, and i love it in city builders seeing npc have their own life and stuff.
