is there a point to talking to our pet/npc

everytime i talk to my pet it just seem to make it hate me for some reason lol is there anypoint to this??

Not really. If you don't want it to follow you into battle, it doesn't do anything else.

If you get the negotiation skill from the merchant's guild and just spam talk a bunch of people, you will start leveling that skill. As you get a higher negotiation you get a higher likelihood of a positive outcome. For example, my character has around 28 charisma and level 20 in negotiation and most of the city npc's I talk to for leveling are sitting around 20-30 affinity.

As for exactly what affinity does, I'm not quite sure I just do it because ape thoughts number go up
