Best choice for that is Elea/wizard (because they halve all mana deprival damage taken) or fairy/wizard... but I decided to try it with one of the new half-foxes races
Main forms of self-defense are throwing and spells. Mind spells are king due to the charisma scaling, and throwing is decent enough of a backup as my strength is the next highest after charisma. Only downside is that I'm quite squishy, so I dual wield shields and hope my followers can tank everything for me.
There is a lot more that can be optimized to be the tankiest murder hobo in the game.
then I get a bunch of followers to buff them up
It's slow to start, but leans more into developing the home faster while still being able to cave faces in with the cane + companion for quests. It's not a bad start to the game (first playthrough)!
I was brushing it off with "that's just translation.."
took me 16 hours to releazie that I also had to equip weapons, not just select them in my hotbar, and throw them sometimes because I press right click....
Well now that I know how to use a weapon the correct way, I want to play as a thief with short sword and bow.
Then I played an Elean wizard worshiping the elemental god and scooped up dreamwalker feats ASAP, and now she gets free spells every night. I'll go clear out puppy cave occasionally to get stocked up on dart spells which are my bread and butter. Overall works pretty well, but does suffer from severe squishiness vs ranged attackers. I'll probably get heavy armor casting and start increasing my PV that way.
I think I kind of messed up the character by taking dream walker 3. You basically lose the free dart spells every night for a random assortment of possibly not very good higher level spells which are either very niche or lack raw killing power. Fortunately at this point I already unlocked the mage guild, so I'm hoping there is a way to target farm the dart spell books I need through them.
Using little girl pet equipped as a tank, but recently had a huge setback when an acid monster melted literally all of her equipment including the artifact hammer she had, after I teleported away and got trapped in the water.
I think I need more followers to be honest.
Overall caster seems really good, you can create a 'bump monster' follower easily instead of doing it yourself. Followers also create their own ammo out of thin air, so they make good shooters also.
Protip: make a 'cane' straight away. Go to the beach tiles east of your starting point and harvest sea shells for fragments. Make nails out of bones.
Im not sure how to feel about this game overall. In all honesty I can just go back and play elona+ for the parts I like. The base building doesn't attract me and is really annoying IMO. This game is too 'rippy'
If it's like in Elona, there should be a vendor in the guild that allow you to commision a list of spells you know, and he will only stockpile thoses. Invest in him and you'll get several pages of the books you need
