crystal bedrock

What do you need to find/do do break Crystal Bedrock? I finished my first playthrough (using the new DLC) and never managed to find a way to break it. I saw a few areas that seemed to need it, so I assume there was supposed to be a way.

You gotta find the crystal blocks and move it near the crystal bedrocks with the new robot. Once the crystal block is near the crystal bedrocks, the bedrocks will explode opening up new areas for you to explore.

I tried using the purple crystal blocks. how ever it seems to only work once and then not activate any of the other ones on a given floor? is this a bug? or are there supposed to be multiple? or is one purple crystal block supposed to work multiple times? or do i need a specific robot to get it to work?

The block needs to be placed close or next to a block called "crystal bedrock" that shines in the same colour. Sometimes you can see the shimmer but not have a place to put it close enough.

Also to make it easier to match the blocks to bedrocks, each group of those crystal bedrocks shimmers a shape on top of the blocks...triangle, circle and square. If you notice, the crystal blocks also has a shape....triangle, circle and square.

Also, if you zoom in close, you can see the shape carved into the top surface of the block (to save you waiting around for the shimmer effect to go off)
