I think there's value in it even if you haven't watched the ENA animations, and it's not strictly necessary because this ENA appears to be a different character so far. The throwbacks to old games like LSD and the Zelda CDi titles are fun if you're of the age to appreciate those references, there's tons of secrets to explore, and if you're someone who has reading comprehension above an elementary school level then the story is already shaping up to have very interesting themes.

oh cool, ill def check it out!
To be honest, with how surreal/all over the place (spoken affectionately) ENA is, the main meat of the game doesn't really require any knowledge of the animations imo. But there are a few refs from what I understand, off the beaten path.

yes, you don't need any context at all. The game is supposed to feel like a dream sequence which is the point of it, I guess. But yeah play the game.

welp, i played thru it, and i dont regret it! that was awesome.
yes.
watching the episodes will leave you just as confused as you would be playing it blind.
id say its best to watch the series to get the basic vibe of the world
Even with the context of ENA anims the game is an LSD trip and feels like constant near-overstimulation. There’s a lot to see, lot to do, even if it’s mostly a walking simulator with puzzles at the moment. Joel will add more, he’s teasing more chapters, and I’m excited to see what he’s cooking because it never disappoints

Though if you want to get a feel for the character ENA and also the trippy world… go ahead and watch the animations
