Do I need to have been following ENA before this to enjoy the game?

Game looks very interesting, but I'm not familiar with the youtube content.

As far as I can tell, it stands on its own pretty well. There's some small references, but that's about it.

you can enjoy the game without knowing anything about the youtube vids. however the youtube vids are awesome and worth your time if you like the game! they are pretty much in line with what we see in the game: nonsensical and charming, just without you as Ena.

What strongfish said. The actual total amount of animation is all on Joel Gs channel and has a combined length of 40 minutes so you might as well see it anyway :P
