Secret path in the kill zone behind the ship

It looks like nobody else has mentioned this yet, but there's a bridge behind the ship in the main area, and you can get to it by jumping off the left side of the ship. After that, you need to follow an arrow made of rocks, and then follow the tiny rocks on the ground. If you stray from the path, you get the bright screen kill zone thing. After walking for a bit, you get to a tree and a floating pixelated statue of the dog and the hourglasses with the message "The statue's link is not yet secure". What could that be?

Keep walking around it and pressing E and it eventually says "Missing chaperone; Cannot establish link." Having all the dogs does nothing.

I wonder if the humanboard would count as a chaperone?

Can confirm, the Board Member (humanboard) does not count as a chaperone.

Thought I saw a "tree person" outside the map, trying to find them again. Have a feeling they are somehow related?

That tree person is a major mystery, one of the few moving NPCs you can't interact with. It's location is randomized each time you start a new save files, sometimes you can get it close enough to the gap behind Taski Maiden and actually reach it. But interacting with it does nothing

In the game's files, it's name is listed as "Rantarou". Not much else I can glean, yet
