Game will not start
Hi,

I recently purchased Lego Batman 2 from Steam on PC. However, when I click to play the game, it goes to a black screen as though the game is about to load, then it goes back to the desktop with the game still apparently running. When I click to go back onto the game it goes to the black screen then back to the desktop again.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks in advance!

I tried like everything, Verifying Cache, Running as Admin, opening in windowed mode. I FOUND A SOLUTION!! So, for me anyway. I went in to the game folder, went to the application, right clicked, went to properties, then compatibility. Then what you do is check the box at the bottom that says "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution". This worked for me. I can now play it and I did switch the reolution when I was in game.

I am on a Lenovo Y510p Laptop. Geforce GT 750 M GPU, i7 proc. 1080p res, 60Hz refresh rate.

I hope this helps others!

I had similar issues. The game would load the licensing screen from TT, and would be in 3d mode. I have a GTX 770, and a 4770 intel i7 with Win 8.1 and newest DirectX. Suffice to say, I can run a game like this easy. However, it would try to load the WB Games logo FMV and it would C2D. Occasionally it would work like after a fresh install, or if I played with a few resolution options. 99% it wouldn't. Finally, I went to the location of the executable file for the game Prog Files/Steam/Steamapps/common/Lego batman2 etc. Right clicked on the .exe, and went to compatibility and checked off "Run in 640 x 480" "Run as Admin" "Run in reduced color" and switched the compatibility to run in Windows XP svc pk 3. It ran right after I did that via the executable. I haven't backed out and tried it again, but it worked right after doing that. I also noted that after I did all that, it did not load the game in 3D mode. Might've fixed it.

Have you tried using CTRL-T to disable stereoscopic 3D? Also, you can disable it in nVidia control panel. Also, try to find pcconfig in your AppData and adjust the graphic settings there (to match your monitor resolution) if you can't do it using in-game Options menu. I have GTX 760 and didn't have any problems running this game.

Had also same problems; Black screen ---> desktop ---> black screen ----> desktop. Tried everything I could think of and finally went to despair, but at the moment I were choking to the barrel of my shotgun I had a piffany. Maybe I should try something really extreme and try changing my desktop's resolution?!?! Changed it from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 and voilà the game has just started. Then if you would like to play the game 1080p, go to options, change the game resolution to 1920x1080, game crashes you to desktop, change the desktop's resolution back to 1920x1080p and start the game again. Stupid game programming leads to that us gamers have to do stupid things to run the game. :O

Agree, it's a poorly ported game from consoles to PC's.

Repl1c4,

This worked perfectly for me, thanks. How insane, changing the resolution of the monitor was the solution. Oh the wonders of gaming the PC, sometimes I just laugh at how absurd it can be.

First thing is to check the requirments:

Computer
Required: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible computer

Operating System
Required: Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7

CPU
Required: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ - 2 * 2000 Mhz
Recommended: Quad core CPU @ 2.7 GHz

Memory
Required: 1GB RAM
Recommended: 2 GB RAM

Graphics Card
Required: NVIDIA 7600, 7800, 8xxx or better, ATI 1950 or better
Recommended: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 or better; ATI HD3870 or better

Sound Card
Required: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible Audio Device

So if got win8, right click that exe and set it to compatible mode win7 or winxp. Should help.
Its an old game so cant expect it to run in win8.1 just like that.

My game runs perfect in win7 with max everything.

Ca't get it to play either. I'm suspecting its the resolution on my system. I've seen this from other games which aren't able to handle the native res; need to find the config file and edit it mnaually.

For me, it launches, gets to the liscensing screen, and then does a window not responding message.

For me checking the "Disable visual themes" option in the "Compatibility" tab of the "LEGOBatman2.exe" properties dialog fixed it for me. I am able to run at my native 2560x1440 resolution on my ATI video card.
