This game is like building a house with some friends, brick by brick.
Then, someone missplaces a brick and the whole house explodes.

Many of the recent roguelites aim to capture the build-making aspect of the ARPGs without the tedious parts. They are aimed at people who adore what Path of Exile tries to achieve, but don't want to sit through hundreds of hours of grinding. Now, finally, we have the same thing for the MMORPG group PvE. What's next, roguelite that captures the intricacies of MOBA laning mechanics? I wouldn't mind.

Rabbit and Steel plays just like your dungeons/raids in MMORPGs with a bit of a Touhou flavor. The main focus is on mechanics, and being able to maintain proper dps meanwhile. With both solo and multiplayer available, gameplay shifts from more of a bullet hell to more of an experience in coordination as you add more players. Playing with random players is fun, considering the runs are short and there's very little at stake, but the game works best with friends. There's also a story that's exclusive to solo mode, which I haven't completed yet.

If there's something to criticize, it is that single player can be a hit or miss when it comes to random drops. With how it is designed around tight enrage timers, Lunatic Lunar difficulty heavily favors maximizing dps through items and upgrades, which might be difficult in solo depending on what you get. But on solo Normal/Hard this won't be an issue most of the time.

A game that fits the niche I've wanted for years. My most exciting random discovery of the year so far.
