network error can't join lobby

I'm trying to join a friend, we're playing for the first time, but whenever we try to join any lobby, ours or others, we fail. My friend managed to have peoples join his own lobby when in public, but we can't join an already existing lobby.

we're both in France just in case.

i have this problem too, from my friends perspective when join they sey each other not moving and they have disconnected icon, but from my perspective everything is fine, and my friends cant join each other's lobby, but can join mine

having the same issue, we are from UK, UAE, Austria and Czechia,

no one could join anyone EXCEPT friend from UK, so we all joined on him, he could see us all, but we all could only see him, and all others were stuck in the left corner with the "Disconnect" icon over their character.

we think it's to do with recent steam server issues

Same thing, playing with other 2 friends. But i can only join to one of them and when the second one joins us he looks like he is disconnected and staying still (he also see me afk and disconnected) but we can do damage, take items and buying stuff. When i trying to join my second friend its just shows the network error

Same on our side for Luxembourg, i can play with my wife because we are from the same country but if any of my friends from France tried to connect to me or if i try to join their games => Network error : unable to connect

I don't know if something was done on dev part but the issue is solved between Luxembourg and France.

It could possibly be because one of you are using the modding beta version

Unfortunately this seems to be a partial Steam outage! It might work, it might not, or it might work in certain regions, until Steam fixes it.

The game runs on Steam's Lobby API, so it's kind of at the mercy of that working.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully Valve fixes it soon!

One solution that worked for me was having all the players close and restart Steam. That seemed to fix the 'unable to join' issues. It might take a few restarts but, it eventually let all the players join the lobby.

A few people in the Discord reported this working as well; so if you're having this issue, give this a shot!

Note that you have to completely close out by doing Steam > Exit; not just closing the Steam client window.
