[Steam Deck] Multiple controllers share controls for 1 character

Is there any comprehensive guide on how to play locally with multiple controllers? I can't seem to get it to work

I've only tried on Steam Deck so not sure if it's an issue on Windows PC's but when I tried to play with my friends, my Dualsense, Dualshock 4 and the built-in Steam Deck controller controls player 1 and I can't seem to find a way to have the controllers join and choose their own characters. All controllers only control P1.

Settings show numbered controllers though so it does recognize that I'm using different controllers.

nvm, I had Handheld mode turned on. Disable it if you encounter the same issue

Heyo, dumb question, but I can't find that as a setting anywhere, can you direct me to it?

It's under Options - More Options

Thanks, I'm a fool and was driving myself crazy looking thru all my steam deck options looking for handheld mode and didn't even think to look in the game settings. 🤦
