I'm not sure if there's a specific issue with the Switch controller, but if there is please let me know!
This is an XBox controller: https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/7d72e47f-a2aa-430b-93ec-f897cdc05b32.ecdfe47f0493dbfebb466154d0b9a373.jpeg
When you use a controller with the switch button layout on PC, unless a game supports replacing button graphics for it, you end up with the markings swapped, but the positions correct; for example, primary attack is still the left face button, but the game displays X, whilst on the controller the button is Y.
The result is the button prompts are never correct in games, and if I were to rebind things in game, they'd still show the incorrect prompt, because it would change the physical button it's bound to.
If the user rebinds them via steam instead of the game, you commonly end up with a less-useful button layout as the tradeoff for on-screen prompts matching up; in this case, primary would be the top face button, secondary the right face button, defensive the left face button, and special the bottom face button (I think).
Ahhh I see the issue. I don't think it would be too hard to add a config option for it. If haven't gotten to it in like a week or so bump this thread
I'd honestly rather put up with it until it's properly supported by Rabbit & Steel than do that and try to undo it later.
can you pleeeeeease let us choose which button glyphs to show arbitrarily, i really don't want to refund this game but i cannot play it on the steam deck at all for similar reasons; the xbox layout does not and will never make sense to me, so i need the option in-game to use the playstation buttons (or nintendo style ones). i have modded my steam deck to have playstation style buttons but very frustratingly it is up to individual games to let me choose usable glyphs
the worst part for me is xbox style games tend to use a blue x which is very confusing lol. i really wish they'd use literally any other color. or never used a bizarre backwards layout that has caused me so much grief for years now.
*Except Sisterhood of the Cosmic Wheel but that game doesn't have many button prompts anyway
isPs4Controls_v2="1.000000"
it shows PS4 controller even on the steam deck, which is perfect. If you could make this a GUI option I would love it!
For those of you who want to edit this file on the steam deck, it is located here if you install the game into the internal memory:
