if you just play normal, it's quite a bit of fun up until you get to the point where you're no-hitting the runs. hard is a significant step up, and can be very frustrating if you aren't playing co-op. lunar is for masochists lol.
the game certainly works solo, but personally, I wouldn't get this game if I didn't have someone to play it with. you don't need a full 4-man team or anything, just one friend is enough, but the game's significantly better if you have the option to co-op.
As aforementionned though, RNG can be quick a female dog sometimes.
It's doable either way, but so far I've found multiplayer much harder to get into if you don't know anyone but also generally more fun.
That is why I said for solo.... Also did you not notice that the OP's title is, "is this game fun SOLO"?
Not really in Lunar, it's just bullet vomit.

I think it depends on whether solo is fun for you, difficulty is really high, even for normal if you're just starting, and the nature of the game forces you to lose in order to be able to win
(at least at hard and above), because you can't really react to mechanics, you kind of just need to know what they do to have a chance to dodge. A lot of skill expression is drowned by rng aspects that aren't super great, and dancer makes the game 5x easier to play than the other classes I've tried.
Still, I've been achievment hunting and I've had a decent bit of fun, I wouldn't recommend playing it solo to 90% of my friends tho, I don't think it's as enjoyable if you're not as stubborn, or just a giga gamer
I agree with you, but I think you quoted the wrong person.
And to clarify my thoughts more for other. I think the game is fine, but in lunar, this game is more bullet hell than mechanics. Some bosses and mini-bosses were made even better with the additional mechanics, but half are just here's a million more bullets on the screen as difficulty.
Oh oops! I did quote the wrong person. I don't normally use the forums so I ended up deleting the wrong header when I went to edit it to show what I wanted it to show. Sorry
