Binding Mechanic for Mav, Seamstress Frog

I don't quite understand the bind mechanic! Sometimes it links me to my friend which makes it impossible to dodge anything, but sometimes it binds me to the boss. Any insight on how to consistently bind to the boss?

Enemies can have a couple patterns they can pick from and you can't influence it. If you are bound together just rotate around the center on opposite sides of the big orbs.

thats simply 2 different mechanics, you might want to talk to your friend about your movement if you are constantly fighting about it.

If it's impossible to dodge anything when bound to each other, at least one of you is screwing the other over by being uncooperative.

I've been pugging this a lot and it goes reasonably well most times, unless the other person is completely clueless. I tend to just dash over to where the other person is to start with and then stretch the link toward where we should go and that works most times.
