What the ♥♥♥♥ are you on about, Konami is a major multi-billion-dollar international entertainment corporation that runs tons of casinos and gyms, makes arcade cabinets, pachinko and slot machines, anime, comics, trading cards, ect. They brought in 360.31 BILLION Yen in revenue last year ($2.3 Billion USD)
Metal Gear, in its entirety as a franchise, has only sold 62.1 million copies in the last 37 years - games are a drop in the bucket compared to their other revenue streams.
Perhaps next time before spouting off absolutely baseless claims regarding a company's financials, you should start with a basic google search; it might help you not come off like a stereotypical ignorant American.
Are we talking about video games? The gambling part doesn't interest me.
Well you did say the company didn't make a profit instead of the gaming section of the company, Konami yearly income kept on increasing after they got rid of hideo kojima and actualy the gaming department of Konami do make a profit thanks to mobile games (cheaper, faster to produce, more profitable due to MTX).
Here's a picture about yearly income after kojima was removed:

Here you can see a wider range of Konami financial situation:

Here if you CTRL + F and use the keyword "gaming" you can find that they did made a profit (this is the 2023 data):

When it come to mobile games Konami do have title that generated a lot of income:
Pro Baseball Spirits A released on Oct 21, 2015 generated $2,400,000,000
eFootball in May 24, 2017 generated $1,000,000,000
More recently Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel released in Jan 19, 2022 generated $130,000,000
Aside yu gi oh they have a baseball game series that is pretty profitable and you can read articles about Konami doing quite good in that regard:

This mean Konami have the funds to make an MG1 & 2 remake or even 10 remakes, but because they have the funds doesn't mean that they'll make it, while their yearly profit is good the company is in good health hence why they've made the Silent Hill 2 remake and MGS3 DELTA, of course there is also the profit merch generates but overall you are wrong.
Many people think Konami is doing bad but they've evolved with the market and is doing pretty good even without kojima, the metal gear series may be doing better since we got this collection, Master collection VOL2 and MGS3 DELTA coming at some point and If MGS3 DELTA was well received and fans demand more It's not impossible to have MG1 & 2 remake.
AFAIK SH2 remake was well received just like this VOL1 collection so I don't see why Konami wouldn't go for such remake, Resident evil is doing the same and It's working well for CAPCOM so why wouldn't Konami do the same with MGS ? (and SH). I see no reason, but If you do feel free to tell me maybe I'm wrong or have missed something.
You are correct, I'll just add that this is a kojima effect: Many people believe that kojima is a genius when he was a genius in the past, at some point not, so in people mind: Genius sell games for quite a lot, and Konami = only make video games.
It's due to that that many people are wrong about these two things, we aren't talking about Mario games selling more than 900 million units worldwide, the "no kojima = no buy" effect currently hinder the franchise hence why in the interview they've said they'll want to see how MGS3 DELTA is received, If it flop Konami may terminate the franchise (aside porting) as they'll see that there was more kojima fans than MG fans and ironicaly that will hurt kojima in 2 ways: It mean all the years he invested on the franchise didn't really matter since it will get forgotten as new better games come out and his fans will demand that he make an MGS like game, something he said he really hated because he wanted to do something else, while I understand death stranding isn't that good (fetching quest simulator supposed to create the "strand" genre but failed due to the label it got) I honestly don't feel he'll like to once again get the pressure to make an MGS like game and be stuck with that.
So yes you are correct.
no new ideas needed, the game and story already exist.
just need to make it not 8bit NES upgrade it to like 16/28 bit, still hold the retro vibe, but updated with a bit more QOL.
kinda like nintendo does with their DS games releasing on the switch, just a nice upgrade.
Honestly why not, It's cheaper and faster to produce and in the long run Konami could use the same engine for other 2D MG game, like Ghost Babel.
With some nice QoL and maybe some extras It could be great.
I liked MG1 & 2 despite playing it in 2024 but honestly the card system could use the MGS2 card system, or If they really want the MGS1 card system put numbers on doors.
Plenty of little things that would make these games more enjoyable in this era.
At least you fight some proper final bossfight(Robocop version of big boss) instead of running away from him and using lighter+spray to kill him.
Nothing stop Konami from having the bossfight changed to a CQC fight between them then in a cutscene he grab a lighter + spray.
