Is it worth it to buy this collection?
as a newbie to the MGS series,I really only played MGS V. I wanted this but... $50 for the whole thing? that's like 1 week worth of grocery money here. It's 5 games in total yes, have some nice QoL features. But my PC could emmulate games pretty well, and tbh I'm not really keen on dealing with shady downloads anymore like i used to. So, is it still worth it?

I think this collection is very much worth it, yes. You'll want a mod for 2 and 3 to fix audio sounding compressed in cutscenes and if you play above 1080p, you'll want MGSHDFix, but if not then you won't need it.

I dunno where you're located, but right now $47.99 is the best price I'm seeing across the board. This past weekend, Green Man Gaming had the collection for around $38, so if you're willing to wait a bit another decent deal will probably come along.

Green Man Gaming, Humble Bundle, and Indie Gala all give you Steam keys when you purchase from there, so check those places too.

The screenplay book is a good guide if you haven played one of the game and are stuck (played MG1 & 2 (MSX) and had no internet, so that helped a lot) and the master book are a good read AFTER you have completed the game.

if you can find any cheap used ps3 collection with cheap ps3 you will get the full series otherwise no you will pay old games with outdated controlling system and missing MGS4 and MGSPE.

Can't use mods on PS3 so it's cheaper but a downgrade.

What you're telling him to do is more expensive than just buying this collection, which are much improved over the PS3 versions...
