Is there no soft reset on the PC version?
So far I have played the Series X and PS4 versions of Master Collection and in both versions you can soft reset by pressing all 4 shoulder buttons + start + select (or whatever the equivalent of start and select is now... menu and view?)

Doesn't seem to work on PC. Is it a different button combination?

Pause ---- Option ----------> return to main menu.

That's how you quit the game, so no reset like in MGS1.

In short: Yes.

If you are on a FOXHOUND run and got spotted the best way would be to take the pill and quit.

Just wondering why it works in the other versions then

If you mean in MGS1 on this collection: It's a different emulator.

If you mean on legacy or the old HD collection: I dunno.

I have no clue why they removed the soft reset combo from MC, but it's big annoy. Every other version of MGS2 and 3 have it, aside from maybe Vita/3DS. If you're trying to get Foxhound though, the easiest way is to do it on Extreme and always have a life med on during bosses/bike chase. If you get an alert or use a life med, just save the game before leaving the room, then reload the save and it won't count.

When I want to quit, I just Alt F4.

You are correct, it's completely missing. The only game where the shortcut desperately needs to come back is MGS2. All of the other games have a "Quit to main menu" option that can be easily accessed except in MGS2, where you MUST either die, finish the game, or find a Node, which is pretty annoying.

You don't need it for the bike chase, heck you can complete it without firing at an ennemy.

There are several guards that must be killed/stunned in order to progress.

I think it's based on a timer, equip the cold war camo and you wont need a life med.

Try it if you have time because right know I'm focused on playing RE4 remake (got the deluxe edition for 40$), if not I still haven't 100% MGS3 and I will load a save at grosnij grab for the kerotan hunt so I'll see.

You can throw stun grenade too.

I'm entirely certain of this, I don't need to test anything. If you don't take out the guards near the forklifts in the second part of bike chase, you'll sit there forever. The same is true for the second wave of guards in the same area a few seconds later.

I talk about it here in my speedrun guide (timestamped): https://youtu.be/quoZu_HDOIY?si=PmGvu5DG4Pi0sVuT&t=2876
