- Spamming X? I think you mean A, which you can use to go from prone to standing up just by holding it. Pressing it once will make you crouch.
- You have other weapons in your backpack, or at least you will once you obtain them by looking around for items. In fact, with the exception of snipers and rocket launchers, you can fire these weapons while running.
- I can tell by these questions that you're the kinda guy who likes permanently removing the problem rather than trying to avoid it. I'm not judging you for that, but PLEAAASE! Try being stealthy! This isn't a game like The Last of Us where sneaking is just an option that's backed up by good combat if you get spotted. The game deliberately makes the combat janky to encourage you to avoid it as much as possible. Your tranq gun's effectiveness is based on where you shoot the enemy, shooting them in the head will make them drop on the floor instantly while aiming for their foot will show effect after a few seconds of waiting, so use it cleverly in regards to when they're out of sight from other enemies in the area, and don't forget to drag their body around to pick up any loot that they're carrying. Don't be afraid to take things slowly and stay put to wait for when the coast is clear. Observe your surroundings, both by looking and listening, and don't panic but just slowly crawl away when someone sees you in the distance before the Alert phase goes off, and if it does, try to run away and hide, or take the fake death pill if you really must (just know that you only get 5 or 6, so use them sparingly). If you're going to make an encounter with the enemy, use the CQC techniques or hold them at gun point by walking towards them with the D-pad. Killing enemies will affect the game later on in ways I won't spoil. Any technique you can use will be displayed with footage in the "Special" section of the game's menu.
Good luck!
Thank you for this info, i guess whenever i play stealth games i tend to be a bit more aggressive, and it doesn't help that the only other mgs games ive played were V and R, with V having easy combat / stealth and R just being a hack'n'slash.
Good to know that this is a stealth heavy game, ill make sure to keep that in mind now when playing.
Not too hard either, but it definitely had just the right amount of challenge.
The AI difficulty increases through 2 and 3, but so does your arsenal and options., and i think that was truly amazing for the time.
In MGS3 remember to use the d-pad movement if you want to grab guards from behind, otherwise they'll hear you. 90% camouflage + Tranquilizer gun's headshot is pretty OP as well.
