Idk what went wrong with the volume levels though. You can modify just MGS3's volume though through volume mixer, put it about halfway or 35%

Sharing your PC config would help in case it's an OS issue or something, if people have the same OS/hardware that would help Konami.
Worst of all: The sound files are fine. Its the output of the Xbox Series/PC version that is unbelievably screwed which makes it next to impossible for modders to fix. The channels and volumes for each are all over the place and there is this terrible volume auto-balance feature at work in the Xbox/PC version that is causing this.
If the problem was with the sound files we could simply replace them with the PS3/X360 files but that is pointless as they're exactly of the same quality.
If that was true everyone would have such issues, I would have noticed if the audio was loud as heck or weird so it's something on your PC that does this, some people also use steam deck when the store clearly don't say that it's compatible.
You are both wrong. The sound files are NOT fine, and this is a problem that affects everyone. There is already a mod that fixes that.
Then how come my audio is fine ? I'm not playing on steam deck and I didn't have any issues with MGS3.
I don't use any mod too.
Watch this video and then listen the opening of your game again.

People who played the og notice the issue
People who don't know what they're on about don't notice the issue
You don't need to reply to my posts. I know what you're doing in this forum, keep your agenda to yourself and the others who are falling for it.
1- In the comment board of the mod there is a discussion about the sound files themselves being basically the same. If you reproduce them correctly, they will play just like the PS3 version. The problem is how these files are being reproduced in the Xbox Series and PC, and this is very problematic to fix.
2- The mod is a bandaid fix for fmv cutscenes and codec calls alone (read the description of the mod). It doesn't fix the root of the problem itself which is a problem in the audio output affecting every other sound effect in the games and forcing us to set our desktop volume at 10% to have a decent experience (alert sound in MGS3 is a good example).
^ This is exactly why this problem hasn't been fully fixed yet. Its not as simple as swapping the files with the ones in the PS version, this is gonna be a nightmare to properly fix without Konami (or whatever company responsible for the ports) getting involved.
1. The creator of the mod said that it's files, quote: "IMO, this is exactly because f*#@ed up sound files"
2. Mod fixes in engine cutscenes too.
It isn't the sound volume issue but the
compression. Listen that video I posted before. The volume between tracks is the same but they sound completely different.
I did, I even listened to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKSkJpODOuc and I hear no issues.
I have headphones with a bass system included and sound dampening so I don't hear how the sound is broken or loud, meaning it's not the game that have issues otherwise everyone would have it.
Also I'm not playing on steam deck the store doesn't say that it's compatible with it, so if you play on steam deck and you have issues it's on you.
You are actively filtering your audio to the point you can't distinguish very obvious differences between the comparison clips. "There must not be any sound issues on your end because I listen through bass system and sound dampening on my end". Are you trolling or are you genuinely that dense?
How do I even filter audio ? But hey you are saying that I'm doing that so go ahead and prove it.
"Bass System" and "Sound Dampening" actively process the audio signal with EQ and DSP. It's filtered.
