How I Got The Snake Eyes Achievement (SPOILERS)

Hey, so you probably already know what scenes are needed for Snake Eyes, but if you're reading this it probably hasn't popped the achievement for you like it did for me the first time I went for this achievement. Well, even going back to the 2012 HD Collection, this achievement has always been buggy. I read through a few threads and here's what I did that worked on my 2nd attempt:

-If the required cutscene is in a sequence of cutscenes, DO NOT SKIP the earlier cutscenes. For example, at Krasnogorje mountain top for the first scene, there are 3 cutscenes that precede the necessary scene. Do not skip them.

-DO NOT SKIP any cutscenes that come after the required cutscene either if they are in a sequence.

-For the entire duration of the required cutscene (and just before and a bit after if you really want to be safe) hold the First Person button. I'm playing on an Xbox Series controller, so for me that's RB. PlayStation is R1 and keyboard is F. It will auto switch your viewpoint when the first person section of the scene comes up.

-There's a required scene during the torture sequence in Groznyj Grad. From the point where Snake reunites with Sokolov, all the way through until control is given back to the player and Snake ends up in a cell, I did not skip any cutscenes.

-After defeating The Boss, do not skip any cutscenes. I don't know if this was required or not, but it worked for me. I saw the scene with The Boss and The Sorrow, then proceeded to watch all of the Ocelot cutscenes and the final one as well.

-For the final two scenes, I kept the button held the whole time from the moment we see Snake walking to the office in his dress uniform. I did not let go until he saluted the grave, the viewpoint changed, and the achievement popped.

I know this is really long winded, but I hope it helps somebody.

I tried this method and it didn't work. I used a save at Krasnogorje mountain base. Did you start a new playthough for this to work? Also what difficulty did you pick, what I LIKE option did you select and what version (NA, EU) are you playing?

I'm very sorry to hear that.

I loaded up clear save, so this was New Game+ on Extreme difficulty. I am playing the NA version and the answer I chose when I first started this save was "I like MGS3!"

Did you skip all the cutscenes before Krasnogorje or did you watch them as well as hit the view button whenever the prompt appeared?

I skipped them. I only watched the cutscenes before and after any of the scenes that had the secret view prompt if they were in sequence. I did not press any other view prompts besides the secret ones.

Cool, so the cut-scenes that did not contain the required scenes (Reuniting with Sokolov, the Sorrow fight, Volgin plot dumping, Eva hurt, Boss lore dumping, etc) are irrelevant and can be skipped. Did you save and quit at any point or was this one long single session?

Yeah, any cutscenes that didn't involve the scene, I skipped, except the ones in sequence.

For example, at Krasnogorje, when reaching Eva, I watched ALL of the cutscenes starting from when Snake meets up with Eva in the room and she gives him the noodles. The once gameplay starts again, I skip cutscenes again.

Another note: there's a prompt during the torture cutscene. Starting from when Snake reunites with Sokolov (when Sokolov gives Eva the Shagohod data) I did not skip any scenes.

At the end, when you see the first cutscene with The Boss before the final fight, I did not skip any scenes through the end of the game.

But anything in between that stuff? The intro, any of the other bosses, falling off the motorcycle, I skipped all that stuff.

I don't think it's that they were accidentally programmed in, but that they're a bit buggy. They have been since the 2012 HD Collection, where you can also find threads regarding not getting the achievement.

Yeah, I had both continues and saves in this playthrough. I quit the game and came back later as well.

Okay I just gave this a shot and it worked. I played a fresh plus game (I was on round 5 basically, hard difficulty) and from the beginning I still skipped every single cutscene until getting to the mountain area, then I tried to let every single cutscene after that play out. I did still accidentally skip a couple cutscenes, but none of them were related to the secret view/achievement stuff (I accidentally instinctively skipped after beating the first Volgin fistfight). The achievement popped right when I viewed the final secret view at the grave. Thanks for the tips.

Glad it worked for you! And yeah I also skipped any cutscenes that weren't in sequence with the ones I needed.

hello there, after 6 games doing the same thing of watchng all cutscenes while holding rb, i finally got the achievement uing Thomas tip, (i even avoided the cutscene after you beat the fury) and got the achievement..

sadly i'm now even more confused as to how in this holy world ths achevement works lol (play same ng+ watching EVERY cutscene.. nothing, just watch some=achievement)
