I don't know how you didn't realise yet, but this port is full of bugs, this is one of them.

Through testing (with a DS3) I discovered that it'll use DS4 buttons if you launch the game with the controller enabled in Steam's awful Steam Input.

You mean the game? Because PS3 button inputs does not exist as far as this version is aware.

Yes, that's what I said. It uses PS4 buttons.

use DS4Windows

everyone who has Dual Shock controllers should use it, turn off Steam controller's api and never turn it on again.

It's needed for this collection, unfortunately. MGS1 doesn't support XInput, it only supports the Steam Input API.

How the hell did we get to the point where XInput is the preferable option!?

I stopped using DS4windows for a long while. Why should I use it over steam's solution?

less input latency on wireless (1.4ms vs 4.0ms) and Dinput support for old games just to name a few

I also doesn't hijack your controller to simulate mouse or keyboard input, and doesn't launch Big Picture Mode every time you press the PS button.

That's the entire reason why I use Steam Input. How so much PC games doesn't use controller inputs but are perfect for it is puzzling.

I do not experience any input lag either? Not from steam itself at any rate. My only problem with steam input is how I can't remove the guide button from opening big picture overlay.

I also do not experience input lag using Steam input, but I only ever use wired, not wireless.

The only way to stop the PS Guide button from opening Steam overlay is to unbind it. Do this:

Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > Highlight your controller under "Detected Controllers" > Define Layout > Go to the "Guide" button and map it to another button, then map it to the same button and that will clear the input

most casual gamers often can't tell the 2.6ms difference. Good for you i guess.

For me Steam api is just not acceptable anymore.

When it comes to wireless connections like you mentioned in your previous post you're probably right about the discrepancy but I can't speak to that. Wired doesn't seem to have any input latency with Steam API.

That said, for this game I don't need to use it at all since I just use an Xbox controller.
