What's the best way to play MGS3?
PS2, Xbox or PS3 emus? Can I get the game to run properly at over 60fps with true 1440p with one of those?

If you have a relatively beefy PC you can easily play the Legacy collection (peace walker and 4 included) at 60fps and 4K with rpcs3.

Awesome buuuuuut... does that require a pressure sensitive controller? Or can I remap controls to xbox style to pull off CQC and such?

No.

Any other version (emulated or not) is better than this so called 'master collection', even the ps1 emulated in this version looks worse than playing on an original ps1, they added some blur filter on top of the 240p resolution

You can rebind square and circle to your control-triggers and they should work just fine.
You can even adjust the pressure threshold through the pressure sensitivity mode options

ps2 emulator with 60fps patch. but even in 30 fps game looks good

RPCS3 has a pressure sensitivity toggle button, you can use that to change how hard the emulated button is pressed. It's not as robust as the old PCSX2 LilyPad plugin, but it works well enough.

The latter is much more preferable with MGS3's control scheme.

Not recommended unless you have a supercomputer from the future with a much more optimised build of PCSX2.

Was kinds preferring to go PS2 so I can get the full MGS3 Subsistence experience. How's the resolution options?

You'll have constant slowdowns if you use both the 60 FPS cheat AND 4x internal resolution. If you want 60 FPS, you're better off with the HD Edition.

The PS2 version is also not optimised for widescreen, it'll show some jank things during cutscenes in the exposed widescreen parts if you use the widescreen cheat, not to mention the stretched HUD. If you're OK with 4:3 though, it's fine.

Same as on rpcs3.
Though the higher the resolution the bigger the performance-hit.
And you'll have to use a widescreen patch for the widescreen-support, which causes a few funny issues where actors who shouldn't be on screen anymore are still seen outside the 4:3 boundary.

I have an old 6700k + 3070 and play the pcsx2 version with 60fps patch and it runs fine 90% of the time, at 6x resolution scale on top of that. WTH are you talking about? supercomputer from the future?

xenia/canary - mgs hd collection (xbox 360)

you find everything on the web and the emulator is fool proof.

Wtf are you talking about?

You can play MGS3 and MGS4 with a i5 4460 and GTX750ti with 16gb RAM.

If we are strictly talking in an official capacity, this is well enough.

It doesnt offer any improvements over the 2012 release though, in fact had Metal Gear 1 & 2 gutted to be sold seperately (but given those arent MGS3, i'm not factoring that into my verdict).

Unofficially, I am curious what modders can do with this port.

Having issues getting my DS4 to work with the ps2 version. Thought I had everything set up right, get to the start screen, and... nothing happens.
