MGS Delta will have a lot more mods since it will not be a port and I know some people who already plan on making mods other than just cosmetics, they'll also try to mod in this collection so we'll get some stuff.
One of them would like to try and make a boss rush for MGS3 I think, no idea how that even work but apparently it's not impossible and while it may be harder than modding XCOM2 like for LWOTC it's far from impossible.
I've never played MGS3 either, so I was going to buy that separately when I heard you could, but, I ended up just buying the whole collection instead. I couldn't really think of anything off the top of my head that is coming out that I might want until 2024.
But, I won't hesitate to initiate a refund with Steam if it turns out very badly on PC.
We know that the story is the same so it's not a remake on that part, that's all I can say.
Also can't say I am too big a fan of remakes, publishers double dipping on a successful game because they are creatively bankrupt and want to cash in on nostalgia, bought this version because I wanted to replay MGS3 and thought it would be more convenient to be able to boot it up on my computer rather than dragging out my PS2, but truly if you want to play the game I am starting to think that dragging out that PS2 is going to be the superior way to play.
Of course that being said MGS3 does have a few control quirks that while you can get used to them were still considered a little wonky back when it was released and can be even more jarring if you are used to more modern games which if Konami actually does it's job and releases a remake that is actually worthy of the original will probably rectify these issues but in the end we will still have to wait and see.
In the end I would still recommend playing the original though, who knows what will be changed in the remake and it is always better to get the original intended experience rather than a product that has been filtered through the views and perceptions of a different team and corporate greed.
