Regarding volume though, unfortunately all you can do there is just turn down the volume on your PC to a tolerable level when booting up the game, what with the lack of in-game volume control combined with the incredibly loud audio.
idk what switching headphones in the same usb port did but it the audio was no longer overblown. never experienced this in any other game before so im guessing its just a bug in this game. hopefully this works for you
In short, you turned your headphones off and on again, basically.
I honestly believe it's because of the Unity wrapper they use; Unity is kind of janky on it's own.
If using linux (or steam deck, go into desktop mode), highlight the app in the task bar, and the volume is below the window.
Make sure MGS3 is running, not the launcher. If MGS3 is fighting you, install the alttab mod, or use the MGSHDFix addon and launch it with the window setting true.
Proton Experimental still needs you to supply your own xaudio dll to get audio (otherwise it doesn’t crash, but cutscenes are mute), does GE Proton now work out of the box for this?
That's a pretty good advice, a PC need more knowledge and care than a console, that's one big reason why parents gift their game with a console rather than a PC, plus on PC if you let them use internet they may end up on some bad websites.
Especialy important if people aren't patient and complain about every little thing since on PC your setup is different from others, while on console you are sure that the game you get is perfectly made for it so no "oh no it bug with NVIDIA cards" and such.
